Chengkai graduated from the University of Oxford with a degree in PPE (Philosophy, Politics, and Economics) and a master's program at Tsinghua University as a Schwarzmann Scholar. 

Chengkai was the first President of the Oxford Union born in mainland China. He previously worked as researcher in the UK Parliament and at Chatham House (the Royal Institute of International Affairs).
